About Kari Willford (she/her/hers)

With over two decades of experience, my journey into bodywork has helped me gain a deep understanding of how the mind, body, and soul interconnect. As an expert-level John F. Barnes myofascial release therapist, I specialize in addressing the fascia, viscera, lymphatics, and nervous system using a variety of advanced fascial release techniques. My approach is rooted in the belief that the nervous system must be in a parasympathetic, or a calm and relaxed, state to facilitate healing.

My work combines attentive listening, technical expertise in assessment, osteopathic techniques, intuition, and myofascial release. This holistic approach allows me to gain a profound insight into your body’s needs. I am committed to empowering you through self-treatment techniques, extending the healing process beyond our sessions.

Myofascial release is a transformative modality that I am privileged to share with my clients. My journey in the D.C. area began over ten years ago, where I was a founding member of Capital Integrative Health, collaborating with a diverse team of healthcare providers to support clients on their path to wellness.

Before moving to the D.C. area, I built a successful private practice in Phoenix, Arizona, where I also worked at the renowned Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain. My tenure at Sanctuary allowed me to refine my skills and achieve master therapist status, further enhancing my commitment to excellence in service.

I hold degrees from the University of North Dakota and the Arizona School of Massage Therapy, and I am a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine. My continuous education includes studies in nutrition, yoga, corrective exercise, visceral manipulation from the Barral Institute, contemporary Shamanism, assessments from Movement Rev and advanced trauma transformation programs at the Center for Mind-Body Medicine.

Outside of my professional life, I cherish time spent with family and friends. My hobbies include biking, gardening, listening to music, and cooking.
